The Beacon at Minnis Bay
Birchington Parish Council, (BPC) have asked TDC to remove the decorative beacon purchased to commemorate the Queens Diamond Jubilee in 2012; sadly, the post and basket are beyond repair. The shield had previously been removed by BPC on the advice it was unsafe, arrangements were in place to replace it with a new shield for the Platinum Jubilee. BPC will be discussing a possible replacement structure at meeting of Full Council on Tuesday 1st March.
The Beacon at Epple Bay, which is owned by Birchington Parish Council, will be lit for the Platinum Jubilee on Thursday 2nd June as part of the national beacon lighting celebrations.
